Young people around the world desperately need meaningful livelihoods and opportunities. Unfortunately, the economic and business models of the past have become the problems of today. The ecosystems crises thus requires us to seek not only work – but also ways to rework.
New structures and strategies are therefore needed to engage the many people where the world needs their engagement. However, as always, institutional change is brought by entrepreneurial agents at the margin of the system. Learning occurs in the interface between these forces for change and established institutions and decision makers. To push change and move faster into action, we therefore now need much more efficient interfaces. To rework effectively, we need the right stages for change.
Tällberg Foundation and Youth Employment Systems (YES), with its youth-led networks in 55 developing countries, join forces in this initiative to convene global and local leaders, and to identify local entrepreneurs, ideas and promising green ventures and match them to resourceful institutions and investors - to Rework the World.
The effort culminates in a Forum in Dalarna, Sweden June 2-5, 2010. This festive 4-day forum will bring together over 2000 people from all over the world in a festive manifestation that a sustainable future is possible and with the concrete aim of taking promising ventures to their next level. Participants will come from small and large business, government, investment agencies, foundations, development cooperation agencies and civil society. At the heart of the gathering is a market place of today’s best ideas for a sustainable tomorrow. The meeting will be officially hosted by the Swedish Government and organised by the Tällberg Foundation in cooperation with YES Inc.
The forum 2010 will capture the energy of a new generation and set a stage for the new entrepreneurial forces that bring change on the ground. The vision of this global effort is to create opportunities that by 2012 will engage two million young people in Reworking the World, through financially sustainable, green employment opportunities.
