Whence & Whither News
The year-long learning process “Whence & Whither: into uncharted waters” is now drawing to a close and the insights and inputs are being gathered into a report.

Whence & Whither partners and selected experts have now gathered to explore the following topics:
  1. Planetary Boundaries. Can humanity stay on the safe side of potentially catastrophic tipping points?
  2. What Global Governance could work? Can we design a system for managing common issues in the interests of the whole?
  3. The meaning of security. How interconnectedness and planetary boundaries are changing the landscape
  4. A Conversation on Interconnectedness: From honey bees to investment banks
  5. What Future for Economics? Tracing the emergence of new thinking and practice
  6. Copenhagen, So What?
  7. Evolving values and the future of consumption: Tracing changing attitudes towards global responsibility
  8. The future of resource use and energy

Partners have also travelled to the Amazon for 8 days in March for an exploration of the interface between natural system services (in this case the rainforest) and sustainable economic activities. They visited projects that combine economic success with respect for the functioning of vital ecosystems.

The Whence & Whither project also held a number of "Rethinking Sessions" during the 5th Global YES Summit: Rework the World, from June 2 - 5, and these, together with all the sessions described above are now being fed into a report from the project as a whole, which will be discussed with partners on August 30th in Stockholm.
